What makes campervan tyres different?

You can use standard van tyres on some motorhomes but they need to be able to withstand the greater loads campervans typically carry, and to handle safely on the mixed terrain of campsites and country lanes often encountered on camping trips.

Campervan tyres are engineered to do this. They have stronger sidewalls and good grip, and are engineered to have safe stopping distances where some other kinds of tyres might struggle under the weight and momentum of a campervan. You can identify campervan tyres by the CP marking on the side, where you might also see that they can withstand up to 80 psi (5.5 bars) of pressure. They’re stronger than many of the tyres designed for vans, which are marked with a C.
